Duratuf IEC 61111:2009 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 Electrical Rubber Mats: Technical Overview

Duratuf IEC 61111:2009 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 electrical rubber mat is globally certified electrical safety equipment. It also complies with the AS/NZS 2978 electrical mat standard. Duratuf electrical safety mats are made of elastomer, a specialized non-conductive compound with dielectric strength.

Duratuf IEC 61111: 2009 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 electrical rubber mats are available in Class 0 (1 kV), 1 (7.5 kV), 2 (17 kV), 3 (26.5 kV), and 4 (36 kV). Their standard thicknesses range from 2 mm to 5 mm. Our electrical mats have color-coded labels.

We offer two types of surface designs- Fine-ribbed and textured. All the electrical mats are anti-slip and anti-fatigue.
The common applications of the IEC 61111:2009 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 electrical mats include placing them near high-voltage equipment in industries. Such places include in front of control panels, transformer units, HT-LT panels, switchboards, etc.

Duratuf ASTM D178 Switchboard Mats: Technical Overview

Duratuf ASTM D178 electrical switchboard matting is also a type of electrical mat, which is compliant with the American Society for Testing and Materials standards. Unlike the IEC 61111:2009 electrical mats, the ASTM D178 electrical mats do not have global compliance.

The ASTM D178 switchboard mats also come in classes 0 to 4 for voltage protection from 1 kV to 36 kV. You will get the ASTM D178 switchboard mats in two types- Type I (electrical resistance only) and Type IIABC (electrical, Ozone, flame, oil, and resistance). The ASTM D178 mats are thicker than the IEC 61111 electrical rubber mats, with thickness ranging from 3.2 mm to 12.7 mm (approx).

They are also placed near high-voltage machines in industrial facilities.

FAQ: IEC 61111:2009 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 and ASTM D178 Electrical Insulating Rubber Mats

Electrical mats offer electrical safety and help business owners meet workplace safety standards.

Industrial setups have machines that run on very high voltages, like the control panels, switch gears, transformer units, etc. Working near high-voltage machines is not safe. Accidental current leakage from live wires can result in electrocution, electric shocks, and arc flash.

Electrical mats create a safe base to stand on. It is made of a non-conductive elastomer; therefore, it prevents static electricity from passing through the human body when it comes in contact with a live wire.

Yes, they are. The IEC 61111:2009 standard is similar to the Australian AS/NZS 2978 electrical mat standard.

We have received the third-party certification from ERDA (Electrical Research and Development Association) for IEC 61111 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 standard Class 4, 36kV electrical insulating mats. Previously, we had the same for IEC 61111 – AS/NZS 2978:1995 Class 2 electrical insulating mats.

You should use the electrical mat in industrial facilities with equipment running on high voltage. Some of the industries where we frequently supply our electrical mats are: power generation, renewable energy, manufacturing units, mining, etc.
