Premium Quality Electrical Rubber Mat in Qatar for High-Voltage Safety

All electrical installations in Qatar are governed by KAHRAMAA (Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation), the sole authority for electricity transmission and distribution across the country. KAHRAMAA’s wiring regulations and TRSSS technical standards require electrical safety equipment, including insulating mats, to comply with IEC standards as the primary framework, with British Standards as a secondary option. KAHRAMAA explicitly mandates voltage class compliance for all electrical work from Class 1 as a minimum for low-voltage installations, and Class 3 as a minimum for medium-voltage systems up to 33kV.

Qatar’s electrical infrastructure extends well beyond the utility network. QatarEnergy operates the world’s largest LNG production complex at Ras Laffan Industrial City, with ongoing expansion under the North Field project adding significant new electrical infrastructure. Mesaieed Industrial City hosts QAPCO, Qatar Steel, and QATALUM, each with large electrical maintenance operations. Lusail City, Qatar’s newest urban district. Qatar’s coastal environment makes material performance in these conditions a relevant selection factor for any electrical safety mat specification.

Duratuf electrical insulating mats are type-tested to IEC 61111:2009 across Class 0 to Class 4, covering working voltages from 1.0 kV to 36.0 kV, the full range of KAHRAMAA’s distribution network from 11kV to 33kV. ASTM D178 mats are also available for international contractor specifications and joint venture projects referencing American norms. Both ranges are manufactured from elastomers free from any insertion, are flame retardant, and maintain their dielectric properties within the working temperature ranges of air-conditioned electrical rooms standard across Qatar’s industrial and commercial facilities.

Technical Specification of Electrical Insulating Rubber Mat

Duratuf electrical insulating mats are available in IEC 61111:2009 and ASTM D178, both covering Class 0 to Class 4. In Qatar, IEC 61111:2009 is the standard aligned with KAHRAMAA’s wiring regulations and the TRSSS technical series. ASTM D178 mats are available for international joint venture and contractor specifications. KAHRAMAA specifies Class 1 as the minimum for LV installations and Class 3 as the minimum for MV systems up to 33kV. Select your class based on the maximum working voltage of your installation.

Applications of Electrical Rubber Mat in Qatar

Qatar’s electrical safety mat requirements span the KAHRAMAA utility network, the country’s dominant LNG and petrochemical sector, and a rapidly growing portfolio of infrastructure and urban development projects. Electrical mats are a mandatory safety layer wherever live equipment is operated or maintained at system voltage. Duratuf electrical insulating mats can be used across the following installation types in Qatar:

  • KAHRAMAA transmission and distribution substations operating at 11kV, 33kV, 132kV, and 400kV across Doha and regional networks
  • QatarEnergy LNG facility electrical control rooms and switchgear areas at Ras Laffan Industrial City
  • North Field LNG expansion project electrical installations and contractor safety requirements
  • QAPCO, Qatar Steel, and QATALUM plant switchgear rooms and MCC areas in Mesaieed Industrial City
  • Lusail City infrastructure electrical rooms, including substation and building services installations
  • Hamad International Airport ground operations and terminal electrical maintenance areas
  • Qatar Rail metro power supply substations and traction equipment electrical rooms
  • Commercial tower and mixed-use development building services across Doha’s West Bay and downtown districts
  • FIFA World Cup 2022 legacy facility electrical maintenance operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our insulating mats are fully certified to IEC 61111:2009 and ASTM D178 international standards, which are widely accepted by the Qatar Civil Defence Department (QCDD) and Kahramaa for major infrastructure projects. Every shipment includes updated compliance and third-party test certificates to pass site safety audits seamlessly.

Duratuf mats are manufactured from high-grade, UV-stabilized elastomer compounds specifically designed to endure extreme heat. They safely maintain their structural and dielectric properties in working temperatures ranging from -25°C up to 55°C, preventing them from melting, cracking or degrading in non-AC substations or outdoor enclosures.

For medium to high-voltage installation up to 36 kV (common in Qatar’s substations), you will need Class 3 (up to 26.5 kV) or Class 4 (up to 36 kV) mats under the IEC 61111 standard. Always match the mat’s designated working voltage class to your switchgear’s peak operational capacity to ensure complete safety.

We offer standard thicknesses from 2mm to 6mm, typically supplied in convenient rolls or sheets. Because confined electrical rooms or mobile containers require precise fits, we provide custom-cut dimensions to eliminate overlapping seams and reduce workplace trip hazards.

We have a well-established distribution network across the GCC, including Qatar, ensuring timely delivery. We have an office and warehouse in UAE. Depending on your location and order size, our logistics team will provide you with accurate delivery timelines.
